Waiting for Happy

by Mark

If happiness was a promise;
would you wait for it?
Sit ideally and receive,
recharge and never chase it.
For, its promise would peel
From your ledger leave
Freckles of could have been
Engraving heroine deprivation.
Can you take and let go for
Rewards to come charged
Into you, lichtenberg gardens
spruced with ardor ready
to pick? It’s a life of splendid
moments made to drink in with
tea. All yours after the
trade of aggressive agency
for sublime sedatives.
Could you wait for a promise?
Neither can I.
